IBM matches donations made by employees to nonprofits globally. Active IBM employees worldwide who make donations to eligible charities are matched 1:1 up to a total of $10,000 (USD) in gifts per donor each calendar year.

The company only matches donations to the organizations below (pending budget availability):

  • Education – Public and accredited private degree-granting colleges, universities, graduate schools, professional schools, technical institutes, and K-12 schools.
  • Health – Accredited hospitals providing in-patient services, Medicare-approved nursing home facilities, Health Education, and supportive care hospices for terminally ill patients.
  • Cultural – Professionally managed museums, libraries, historical societies, performing arts groups, and non-religious public broadcasting organizations.
  • Environmental – Botanical and zoological societies, wildlife rehabilitation centers, preservation institutions engaged in acquiring and maintaining natural areas.

IBM will not match donations to Athletic programs.

Submission Process:
IBM employees should submit their matching gift requests electronically at {{forms}}.

Submission Deadline:
All match requests must be submitted within the same calendar year as the original donation. The deadline for submission is December 30th. (pending budget availability)

Volunteer grants process

IBM Volunteer Rewards supports employees who volunteer with nonprofit organizations.

Employees should volunteer or log their volunteering awards to earn $10 (USD) in rewards per hour for up to 100 hours a year. Volunteer rewards expire 1 year from being issued and volunteer rewards are not matched from IBM. (pending budget availability)

Submission Process:
Volunteers logged their hours electronically through the company's IBM Giving and Volunteerism Portal via https://ibm.benevity.org/volunteer/external/track.
